Judy Spitz
Senior Vice President – Chief Information Officer Verizon Business
Judy Spitz is Senior Vice President – Chief Information Officer for Verizon Business. Prior to this, Judy has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility at Verizon and its predecessor companies. Immediately before her current assignment, Judy was Senior Vice President, Verizon Network Operation Systems.
From 1988 thru 2000, Judy was Vice President of Network Systems Advanced Technology at Bell Atlantic. Between 1994 and 1998, Judy served as Executive Director of the Network Operations Technologies Laboratory. Judy began her career at NYNEX Science & Technology in 1986 as a member of technical staff in the Speech Technology Group. In 1988 she was named technical director of the group.
Before joining Bell Atlantic, Judy was a research associate at C.U.N.Y.'s Center for Research in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She served as an adjunct professor at Hunter College for 6 years.
Judy holds a bachelor's degree from Boston University, a master's degree from Washington University, and a Ph.D. from the City University of New York's Graduate Center, all in Speech and Hearing Sciences.
Judy was named to CIO Magazine’s 2005 “One’s to Watch” list and in 2006 to CIO Magazine’s 100 Technology Leaders and the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame. She is a three-time recipient of Verizon’s Quality/Excellence Awards.
Judy is a member of Pace University’s Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems Advisory Board, and she is on the Board of the American Red Cross in Greater New York. |
